In addition to structures from the Neolithic and Roman periods, structures reflecting the traditional culture of Şanlıurfa dating back to the 1950s are also being unearthed in the area.

While Sayburç is aimed to be transformed into an open-air museum where Neolithic ruins will be exhibited, two integrated stone houses and a village room built in the 1950s are also aimed to be restored and arranged as a village museum.

Sayburç Excavation Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eylem Özdoğan told an AA correspondent that visitors to the region can also visit the village museum, which will be built in the same area and will display everyday items depicting Şanlıurfa culture.

Özdoğan stated that it was very valuable to see the ruins of both the Neolithic and Roman periods, as well as the traditional rural architecture in the region, and that they had begun work on a "village museum."

Özdoğan explained that there are not many village museums in Türkiye and noted:

"In particular, in the immediate vicinity of the reliefs, there are stone buildings built using traditional methods and a village hall. This part of the area is also better preserved from the Roman period. One of our primary goals is to see the Roman ruins here, along with this relief structure, in a wider area. We also aim to restore these structures, which reflect traditional village life and the culture of Urfa, and transform them into a village museum. Our work towards this goal continues."

Traces of daily life will be exhibited in the village museum

Özdoğan emphasized the importance of the museum in terms of preserving Şanlıurfa culture and village life and passing it on to future generations, and continued:

"Here, within the protected area, the structures we have expropriated contain well-preserved structures that reflect this texture, that is, village life and architecture. We want to restore these structures and create an exhibition depicting village life within them. We want to display hearths, food preparation and storage tools, and elements reflecting daily life within these spaces, and tell the stories of the houses. This way, people who come here to see the Neolithic settlement will also be introduced to Urfa culture and better understand its characteristics."
